Scripture: Numbers 22:38
“Well, I have come to you now,” Balaam replied. “But I can’t say whatever I please. I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.”
Balaam was told by God not to go, but through their perseverance of Balak he went anyway. However, he did warn Balak that he was only going to say what the Lord instructed him to. In other words be careful what you wish for Balak! Balak didn’t listen to the warning and still asked Balaam to curse the Israelites, in short it backfired! To Balaks dismay, God blesses the Israelites and cursed Balak and his people.
First, when God tells us don’t go, don’t go! Second, Be willing for God to use us and speak through us. God can and will use others intent to harm to bestow blessings. Balaam also used much self restraint by not saying what he wanted but only speaking God’s words. We to must learn to “hold our tongues” and allow God’s message to flow through our words.
Lord help me to speak your words to others. help me bridle my mouth that it may be used for you. Use me, speak through me!
