Bible in 90 days (#B90days) Day 17: Who do you serve?

Scripture: Joshua 24: 14-15
“Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Observation:
Joshua was calling the people to make a stand, to rid themselves and surroundings of things that were distracting them from serving the Lord. To once agian set themselves apart from the cultures around them. Joshua knew that the temptation would be to high for the Israelites if they did not cleanse their surroundings of false gods and pagan worship. He was calling each family to make a choice about who they would worship and serve.

Application:
We as christians must take careful action to not let the world around us polute our worship to God. We must cleanse our lives of the distractions that take our focus away form Him. We must each day choose who we will serve, whether love, money, ourselves, ect… or the One True Lord!

Prayer:
Lord help me to always put you first and not to lose focus of You. Lord may I not just say the words but lead my household to serve You! As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!
