#Homeschool: Were Back!

Wow it has been a while since I have done a weekly wrap up! I still don’t have my health 100% back but am feeling better everyday. We have maintained our schooling but have not added in much extra until this week!

This week in our school…
In addition to our regular class work we added in a pumpkin unit thanks to Montessori print shop!http://www.montessoriprintshop.com/

The girls loved the pumpkin exploration, learning about pumpkin parts and the life cycle of the pumpkin.

We finished out the unit by making pumpkin crafts.
Thursday we went to the library for our monthly homeschool group meeting. We ate ice cream and then enjoyed a time of sharing. Both girls got up and gave an oral report in front of the group. I was so proud of both of them for being brave and speaking in front of the crowd. Audrey’s report was over the parts of the pumpkin and Alyssa gave hers on the life cycle of the pumpkin.
Audrey had phonics test this week, she received 80% and a math test which she received 100%!
Alyssa had a phonics test and received a 90%!
This week in our lives….
Sunday we had a trip to the pumpkin patch and picked out our pumpkins to kick off the unit study for the week. I love having family times like these.

Things I’m reading…
I am proud to say that I am now a Read the Bible in 90 days graduate! I finished a little early too. Check out www.momstoolbox.com for upcoming info about another round.

Things I’m cooking…
This week in addition to my normal bread baking Alyssa wanted homemade cinnamon rolls for her birthday breakfast.

A few weeks ago I experimented with a recipe and made grapple pie. It was a hit and will be repeated this weekend along with a rhubarb and lemon meringue (my husband has been requesting for weeks).
For grapple pie use your favorite apple pie recipe and add in red seedless grapes! It is a great fall treat!

My parents headed to Arkansas for the weekend and are bringing back fresh apples. So next week I will be making and canning homemade applesauce!

Thanks for reading! Hope all have a great and safe week!

  1. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better each day! Great idea to use Montessori Print Shop materials for your pumpkin unit. They’re always wonderful! I’m a real fan of paper strip pumpkins for a pumpkin craft. Thanks for linking up with Montessori Monday. (If you could add the Montessori Monday button or a link back, that would be awesome!)
