Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
You can have all the fame and accomplishments available but without patience and self-control it is meaningless.
I would like to say the patience is a virtue that I have obtained, but that would be a lie. I struggle daily with waiting and patience. Whether the kids are driving me crazy and I lash out or rushing every minute of my day because I hate waiting. This area of my life is the one that I have least conquered. This scripture is telling us that no matter whom you are and what you have accomplished doesn’t matter if you don’t have patience and self-control.
The most important area of patience comes from waiting on the Lord. He is faithful to fulfill his promise in our lives but our timing is not his timing. He is all knowing and always keeps his promises. “Hope will rise when we wait upon the Lord” is a song that immediately started playing in my head when I read this scripture. Have you been waiting for a clear calling from Him or an answer to prayer? Do not grow weary! He is faithful to complete it!
Lord, help me have patience and self-control. Most importantly help me to realize your promise that you will never leave me of forsake me. I trust in you and you will be with me and fulfill your promises in my life. Forgive me for my un-belief. Forgive me for not having patience and self-control. Help me admit when I have messed up and seek forgiveness from others I have lost patience with.
