A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
Be a friend in hard times and good. Don’t abandon ship just because things get difficult. Friends and family are there to get each other through adversity.
What is a friend?
According to Webster dictionary, a friend is one attached to another by affection or esteem; or acting in the benefit of another.
So who are you attached to and are you benefiting them or are they just benefiting you?
What kind of friend are you? Are you there in the good and the bad or only when things are happy-go-lucky?
We are not called to be fair weather friends. This scripture instructs us to be a friend through thick and thin. No matter what is happening in your life or theirs, stick it out and lift each other up. God has given us this great opportunity to have Christian fellowship and friendship. Friends are so important and such a benefit. Find a friend that will be there no matter what and return the favor. Draw strength from one another and give joy to each other. Don’t just be a taker but be a giver!
Lord, help me to be the kind of friend you have instructed that doesn’t back down or abandoned when things get rough. Help me lift my friends up and give back to them all the joy they have given to me. Thank you for my friends and to encouragement they give.
