Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.
Focus on what’s ahead (your eternal resting) and don’t get side tracked with the evil around you. Think about your paths and your ways and how they impact not only your walk with God on His path but those following in your foot steps. Stay on God’s path for your life!
Easy enough right? Stay on Gods path to avoid interruptions in His plan for you! Yeah, now if it were only that easy. We were born with free will which makes us vulnerable to temptation and curious about what’s around us. We are constantly trying to take Gods path and move it to our own desires direction. But as we all know it doesn’t work that way. However, if it so happens that we do get off his path and take our own direction ending up with that flat tire, I am so grateful for his grace and mercy that forgives us and picks us back up and places us (not always smoothly) back on his path. We still get to bare the consequences of our running off the road, but, we can go through those consequences knowing that God is right there holding our hand. Our sin effects more than just our path in life. It affects those around us; our children, spouse, parents, siblings, friends, church, etc… The list could go on and on. So, give careful thought about where you want your path to go. Do you want to take the chance that some one has cleaned up the debris on the other path? Or, do you want to stay (or join) Gods path that leads to his will for your life? It isn’t always easy but it is eternally safe!
Lord, help me to die to myself and my worldly desires and stay on the path you have planned for my life. Help me to avoid the road hazards on my own path by following you. Thank you for picking me up and forgiving me when I have suffered a flat tire from veering off your road!
