Homeschool Weekly Wrap-up 12-9-11

This week in our lives…
We had a rough start to the week. We returned from Branson on a family weekend vacation and woke up Monday with cranky attitudes. But after some naps we were off and going. The usual routine quickly fell into place.

In our homeschool this week…

We kept up with the usual school lessons and are winding down on the 3rd six week session. We are looking forward to the winter break which will be from Christmas to New Years. We have also added in a special Advent lesson each day that is really going well. It tells about many holiday symbols and how they tie back to Christ. So far we have studied St. Nick, ornaments, candy canes, wreaths, candles, the star, Christmas cards, snowflakes and angels. Each day has a symbol, Bible reading, short devotional, and fun crafts. After we finish they get to add a sticker to their homemade advent wreath and each week add the appropriate candle. They are enjoying it and learning so much.

Things I’m reading…
The daily Scripture readings and devotional “5 minutes in the word”.

Things I’m blogging about…
Advent season (following the advent calander challenge from www.momstoolbox.com )

Things I’m cooking…
Gearing up for holiday season. Today I start the cinnamon bread baking for gifts. My grandmother always baked everyone a loaf and I’m attempting to carry on the tradition only on a much smaller scale!
