#GodChicks Day 10: Is Your Yoke to Heavy?

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Go to God if you’re tired, worn-out, burdened and He will give you rest. You are invited to go with Him, work with Him, and He will show you the way it is supposed to be. He is gentle and humble and will not give you more than you can carry. He will give you rest.

“I have learned that the only way to negotiate al the plates that God has given me is to get great at walking with Jesus. When I spend my time with Him, everything else gets put in perspective. Instead of panicking at all that I need to accomplish today, I really am peaceful.”

I also have a lot of plates spinning, just like many of you. I’m mom, wife, daughter, friend, teacher, taxi, chef (said lightly), maid, etc….The list goes on and on!

Unlike the author however, I don’t feel that God has given me all the plates that I am spinning. Like the old story goes of the man carrying a rock up a hill. God asked me to carry one or two rocks and I have gathered the rest on my journey. When I get tired I start to question why God gave me such a hard task and such heavy rocks. He reply’s “I just asked you to carry a few, you picked the rest up by yourself.”

I’m not saying that all the above listed “plates” are not God given, but I have not always let God carry His portion. I (like many of us I hope so that I’m not alone!!!) have a hard time letting go and releasing control! So I end up carrying more than he intended for me when the “plates”were given. We then find ourselves tired and heavy burdened. But, there is hope! We can come back and let him re-prioritize our “plates”. He will re distribute the weight evenly allowing us to have the strength (that only he can give) to balance and carry the yoke He intended. We can do this by finding and following Him daily, learning from Him. Our souls will then be refreshed and the load will feel light and burden free.

Daily Step:

Just take a deep breath and let God’s peace settle in you. For 60 seconds, just be still. Then ask God to direct your day.

Help me Lord, to allow you to even the yoke upon me. Weed out the plates that you did not intend for me to carry. Guide and direct my path today and always. Help me find your peace.
