#GodChicks Day 3: Devotion with a Thankful Heart.

Colossians 4:2

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and thankful heart.

Devotion implies faithfulness and loyalty. So, be faithful and loyal to prayer. Don’t make it a second rate activity. Make the conscious decision to pray and be purposeful in your words and listening to what He has to say to you. Have a grateful and thankful heart!

“When we devote ourselves to something, it consumes us. During the moments we spend with God, we should be totally devoted… giving ourselves entirely to the pursuit of building a relationship with our Creator. The goal is to deepen the relationship and hopefully to come out looking a little more like the woman God created you to be. How awesome is that the God who created the universe wants to have an intimate relationship with us!” written by Holly Wagner.

The challenge is approaching this time with a grateful heart. We get so distracted by the things going wrong that our outlook is clouded and we can’t see the things that are going great. God wants us to ask him for help with those things but he wants us to do it in faith and with a thankful heart. Think of your children, if you give them a new toy and they immediately turn around and ask for a different one without a thankful heart for the one they just received, how would you react? Thankfully God doesn’t have our human perspective, but still we are doing the same actions to God. By not having a thankful heart we are taking for granted all the gifts and blessings that he has bestowed upon us!

Daily Step:

Write down five things that you are thankful for…and then thank God for them…out loud.

Lord, Thank you for the gifts and blessings you have given me. Thank you for your Word and the messages it brings. I praise you for your unfailing love and desire to mold me into the woman you created me to be. Amen
