Hebrews 13:5 (focusing on the highlighted portion)
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
“What a great declaration of whom God is… He is there! We don’t serve a God who has abandoned us. His very name means that he is present. Knowing that my God promises not to fail me in anyway – or to leave me without support – are the most incredible support to me!”
“How awesome is it that we serve a God who never leaves us. He is with us through every good time and every bad time… every time of blessing and every time of loss. He is with us when we are afraid. He is with us when we are confused. He is always there. Period! I am sure that you, like me, have felt alone at times. Maybe you feel alone even right now. Take a moment and call out to God who is there. Because He is.”
Write down a time when you know God was there for you. And then lift your hands (really) and thank God that being there is who He is. Thank Him for being the God who is always present.
When you are struggling with illness (or anything else) it is easy to feel down and depressed. I occasionally find myself throwing a pity party. Even when I have a wonderful husband and family surrounding me and lifting me up. My focus is inward about the things that are not going right. I have to remember that no matter how alone I may feel I never really am. He (God) is always there no matter what! One way that I have found to help me pull out of the slump is to become more servant oriented. If I am focusing on the needs of others it is harder to focus on the “pity party” I want to throw. So, when you are going through a time of trials, praise God for he is always there. Then, ask him how you can help others!
Thank you Lord, for your promise to never leave me and to help me through any trial that may come. You have been faithful in your promise and will remain the never changing hope for me. Help me to not become inwardly focused but to reflect that love and faithfulness to others so that they might also rely on you as their source of strength!
