#Ashestofire #Lent – United We Can Stand

John 17: 20-23

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Pray for all believers, present and future, that we may become one. United through our love of Christ. Jesus desires us to have unity among ourselves that we may further disciple the world around us for Him. Through our actions of unity the world will know of Him who sent us and His love for them.

As a Christian faith, we have many disagreements between us. Not just denomination to denomination, but even within a church, believer to believer. How does this appear to the un-believing world? How do we treat those who disagree with what we “think” is true?

All of this arguing and un-loving actions appear to the world as confusion and hatred, partially playing a role in earning us the title of hypocrite.

This Lent season let us unite through our one common denominator, Jesus Christ. Let’s show love across the boundaries and unite to show Him to the world. Let them see who has sent us through our actions and Love. United we can stand against the attacks of evil and triumph through for Christ who sent us.

Lord, help us to overcome our differences and unite in service to you and you alone. Show us opportunities to show your love, grace and mercy to others. Help us as we travel on this journey and prepare our hearts and lives to be a reflection of you. Amen
