Homeschool Wrap-up: New Babies

This week in our Homeschool…

Monday my middle daughter Alyssa became ill again. She has suffered bladder infections for several years and after being sent to a specialist ant a children’s hospital I thought that we had pasted this stage. But she had another one on Monday and after two shots and an additional medication she seems to be feeling much better again. My oldest still had to do “school” which she insisted wasn’t fair until we offered her the opportunity to go and receive shots then she was OK with her school work! ha ha

Tuesday we took it easy but did resume to regular lessons! We also added piano lessons for the summer. We are using Alfred’s Basic Piano Library. I would highly recommend this series for any young beginners. It begins by teaching basic concepts of finger placing and numbers before introducing the note letters. It is well written and easy for beginner readers!

Wednesday the girls had their final badge ceremony at our church for the Caravan Scouting program. Audrey was promoted to the 1st/2nd grade class for the next year and received her gold “Benson Buddies” pin to wear on her scarf. Alyssa received her silver “Benson Buddies” pin.

Thursday we took our usually break for the week and joined in on our “coffee” ritual. Every Thursday a group of SAHM get together and drink coffee eat yummy treats and gab while the kids play. This week we were at a new house and they had a trampoline. It was the girls 1st experience with it and they had a blast!!!!!
When Daddy got home from work we took a “field trip” to a near by town and got our new babies. We are officially “country”! We added eight little hoofs to our homestead, 2 baby goats that is!
Audrey’s is the black and white one appropriately named Polk A Dot. Alyssa’s is the brown one also appropriately named Brownie! They have been waiting for these little arrivals for a long time and are overjoyed to have finally gotten them.
They got cold!

Today (Friday) we are just hanging around and getting use to the extra work. The goats are bottle babies so it will take some getting use to the new routine!

Other Things to Share…
I thought I would share updated photos of our “baby chicks” which are not so much babies anymore!

  1. I do hope your daughter is feeling better. I may check out that piano program because I really want to start piano lessons, and maybe summer would be a great time to do that.

    • Yes, she is feeling much better! We find that summer is a great time to try new things and add them into our days. They become habit before the next school year! Alfred’s is a good program and cheap on Amazon. You can start them out even if you don’t know much about piano and see if they are interested before paying for private lessons.

  2. Aw! Look at those lil baby goats! How sweet! I have had SEVERAL PEOPLE mention that I should add goats to our mix, but nope! no more animals for this Mama! LOL Sweet chicks! I can’t believe the ones we incubated are now almost a year old!

  3. Congrats on the new “babies!” I love them and the chickens! 🙂 My husband and I are really thinking about getting some chicks next year. Until we can fulfill our dream of moving further out in the “country,” we will have to keep very small. I will keep your daughter in my prayers that she will have no more infections. Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your kind comments. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day! Many blessings, Lisa
