Before I begin my rant today I thought I would share about the S.O.A.P method. There have been several questions on the Proverbs 31 group and from my other blog followers asking what exactly the S.O.A.P method is. I’ll break it down for you!
S. – the scripture reading for the day or a passage that God spoke to you through.
O. – observation of that passage. I sometimes us a different translation to help me pick out key phrases to write down. The Message is a good translation to use here. It helps me put modern thoughts and terms behind the scripture.
A. – How can you directly apply this passage to your life today! I sometimes write out a to-do-list!
P. – Prayer (I think this is pretty self explanatory)
So here is my S.O.A.P. box for today! (Day 2 of Proverbs 31)
Do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings. It is not for kings, Lemuel — it is not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer.
Do not chase after the pleasures of this world. They are like dust and will fade away and leave you “shipwrecked”. Do not make a fool of yourself through your conduct. But always conduct yourself as a noble child of the King!
What is happening on the inside (your true desires and passions) will manifest on the outside through your behavior. The things that you spend your time, money and other resources on are the things that truly hold your heart. Store up your treasures in heaven not in this world which will pass away!
Lord, help me to get my priorities straight and chase after the things that are eternal. Things for your kingdom not of this dying earth. Help me to store up my merits with you! Help me to conduct myself in a godly manner that will reflect your love to others and that I would point them to you. Help me to remember that I am Your child and to conduct myself as that! Amen
|Saw this on the WLW site and wanted to share!
I have also challenged myself to memorize three (maybe more we’ll see how it goes) scripture through this study! Here they are if you want to join me in this!
