Proverbs 31:20

She opens her arms to the poorand extends her hands to the needy.

Deuteronomy 15:7-8

If anyone is poor among your fellow Israelites in any of the towns of the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward them. Rather, be openhanded and freely lend them whatever they need.

Proverbs 11:25

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

·         She is quick to assist anyone in need. She reaches out to help the poor.

·         When you happen on someone who’s in trouble or needs help among your people with whom you live in this land that God, your God, is giving you, don’t look the other way pretending you don’t see him. Don’t keep a tight grip on your purse. No. Look at him, open your purse, and lend whatever and as much as he needs. Don’t count the cost.

·         The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

This week’s challenge is to pray and ask God to help you to see the needs of others around you. Then to bless someone this week by not just seeing their need but also meeting it!

We often think of “need” as a financial matter. But it is much more than that. You may have someone that just needs a friend or a new mom that just needs some extra hands. It may just be offering a “Free Hug”. It may also be giving someone a spiritual reality check! Sharing God’s word with others is probably the greatest help that we have the ability to give.  Proverbs 3:27 reads, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.” It is not enough to just see the need, you have to then do something about it!

Do you have someone around you that you have the ability to help?

Blessing others is a blessing of itself. Just the warm fuzzies you get when you know that you have helped out and lend a hand is your reward. However, God also sees the heart of the giver and rewards us for our motives.

So how are some ways that you can bless someone this week? Here are some ideas….

Last year I saw this post about “blessing bags”. It is a very neat and simple idea. You make up the bags and then keep them in the car to hand out to someone that your path may cross that is in need of a little extra help. We also included a small new testament Bible in ours.

Here is another great idea…

Lord, help us to see others through your eyes. Help us to see how we can help others and be Christ to them. Use us, work through us, that we may bring glory and honor to your name. Help us to spread your love to the least of these. Amen

Here is a great song about seeing others through Christ’s eyes. It is my prayer!!!
