A Child In Training!

I’m usually not much into writing reviews or recommending products to use in homeschooling or child rearing in general, but, I think this product and concept are worthy of a little love!

A few weeks ago I was the lucky winner of a giveaway hosted by The Pelsers blog. I received a Child Training Bible kit. Something that I didn’t know a lot about at the time I entered but it looked very interesting.
The kit included a cover with themes printed on it and scripture references with corresponding questions. I immediately hopped over to the CTB site to checkout what I had just entered to win. I was super excited!!!

After being notified that I won the product arrived extremely quickly! (Great customer response time!!!!)
A few weeks later I ordered the remaining materials needed to construct the “Book” from Amazon and began the process.

Supplies!

It went together quickly. I made it start to finish in one nap time! The instructions were very easy to follow and user friendly! They even provide a YouTube video if extra help is needed.

Finished Product!

So What is this Gem?
Well let me just quote from their page since I couldn’t put it better myself!

“The Child Training Bible is tool that allows parents and children (and anyone that loves the Word of God) to go directly to the pages of Scripture for instruction in 20 key areas with a complete section dedicated to the gospel.

The CTB was designed with Colossians 3:9-10 in mind.  “You have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self.”  The Scriptures selected for the CTB teach why we are to “put off” certain behavior and what godly behavior we are to “put on” instead.”

As a parent (and HS Teacher) disciplining my children has always been a struggle. I bounce somewhere between super strict and tired!! haha But the goal I have always had is to point my children in the way that the Lord would have them go. I always want them to understand why the behavior is wrong by God’s standards and how He wants us to correct it. This is extremely helpful in meeting that goal! It reinforces that our “rule book” is the Bible not the world and that all the answers are within it’s cover.

I look forward to not just using this tool within my home but also in other ministries that I am involved in, starting with VBS in a few weeks! I hope that you all research and look into creating one of these as your “Family Rule Book”!

Peace Be With You,
Emmalee
