Recipe Of The Week: Grape Jelly

*Please note the new blog address!

Grape Jelly!!!!!
My Aunt and Uncle brought over some fresh picked concord grapes yesterday. When I say some I really mean a ton!!! So this morning I have been making jelly! This will go nicely with some fresh bread and other homemade goodies in my Christmas baskets.

3 lbs fresh grapes
1 box fruit pectin
7 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. water

De-stem  and wash grapes. Place grapes into a large pot with 1 1/2 c. cold water. Bring to boil and reduce to simmer for 10 min mashing grapes occasionally.

Mash through colander to get as much juice as possible.

Add 1 box pectin to five cups juice. (you can add water to make 5 cups if you are short a little). Bring to rolling boil and stir in sugar. Let simmer for 1-2 minutes or until it begins to thicken.

Remove from heat and ladle into clean sterilized jars to 1/8 inch of top. Clean the rims of the jars to make sure that they will seal. Place on clean, sterilized lids and rings. Submerge jars in boiling water in a water bath canner (water must be 1 inch over tops of jars). Boil for 10 minutes then remove. Once the tops pop they are finished!

  1. This looks great! I bought a pressure canner and have been canning like crazy. Now, I want to buy a water bath canner, as well so I can make recipes like this! 🙂 Thanks for linking up with “Try a New Recipe Tuesday!”
