This week I (along with 21 other bloggers) are attempting to tackle one of my greatest challenges as a SAHM and Homeschooler… Organizing and Cleaning!!!!!!
You would think that because we are at home all day that we would have all the time in the world to keep our landing pads in ship shape order, right? But I have found it to be on the contrary. I think we just become blind to the chaos surrounding us. Don’t get me wrong; I attempt to keep on top of things, but I can always find something more entertaining and exciting to do… or just get plain sidetracked!
I am choosing to tackle one of my favorite areas of the house: The Kitchen. More specifically, the cooking!!!! I love to cook and have done so for a very long time. Providing home cooked (not always homemade haha) meals for my family is something that I find joy in. As Proverbs 31:14-15 says, “She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants.” While I don’t like to refer to myself as a merchant ship, I do attempt to provide good, wholesome food for my family. Sometimes that isn’t an easy task with the schedules and errands that accompany my crazy family (and probably yours also)!
Before we can tackle the what to cook, we need to tackle the when to cook. One of the most helpful organizing tips that I can provide for you is to create a “Master Command Center!” This is a place where you can, at a glance, see all the things that you have going on in the upcoming week. I used a wall in my kitchen to post the monthly calendar, daily to-do-list, weekly cleaning schedule, weekly menu and grocery list.
I created my own printables and “girly-ed” them up with some cheap scrapbook paper. I then placed them into frames I purchased at the local $ store (make sure to use the ones with glass fronts).
Each month I sit down and make sure that I transfer monthly events to this calendar with a wet-erase marker.
Weekly, I sit down with the family and plan what they would like to eat for the week. This allows you to get all your needed grocery supplies in one fell swoop through the market, hopefully!
I will provide my Weekly Menu and Grocery List printables later in the week. For now, here are the Monthly Calendar, Daily To-Do List and Cleaning Schedule to get you started!
Tomorrow I will tackle the menu planning, so stay-tuned!
