It is the final week of our Proverbs 31 study. As usual just when you think you have your head wrapped around this Satan attacks. I spent most of the weekend upset about how much work I do and how under appreciated I am. Real Proverbs 31 attitude, right? Then I woke up yesterday and reset myself with a little alone time as I drove to my specialist appointment. Back on track!!! I vowed to finish the week strong. Then again today I woke up with a splitting headache. Satan is trying his best to get me down and deter me today. But all I have to say to that is “Get behind me Satan!”
Proverbs 31:31 (yesterday’s)
Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
The one who guards a fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever protects their master will be honored.
The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-Of-God. Give her everything she deserves! Festoon her life with praise!
Hard work always pays off; mere talk puts no bread on the table.
If you care for your orchard, you’ll enjoy it’s fruit; if you honor your boss, you’ll be honored.
We are at a cross road in this study. We have worked and worked and worked for almost 14 weeks to mold and model ourselves into a better mom, wife and child of God. Now it is time to make the choice if we continue on this journey or write it of as finished. We must choose to either press forward or throw ourselves a pity party.
We are to the point in the “story” where she receives honor and praise. It is so easy to expect the same thing like I caught myself doing over the weekend. We can get stuck in the “I do so much for you and this is how you re-pay me” state of mind. But we must remember the root of it all. Are we in it for the glory or are we in it to give Him the glory?
Our reward will come in it’s time. But only if we focus on finishing the task. We can’t leave our tree unguarded. Our work is not yet complete. We will receive the honor and praise for what our hands have done. We will see the profit of our labors but only when the job is done. We are all currently still in the middle of the labor. We must keep that in focus. When our Master calls us to him, that is when we will see the fruits of our labors!
Lord, thank you for your word and your Spirit! It is through them that we draw near to you and can rest our focus. Thank you for your mercy and grace. Help us to return to you and draw from your strength, remembering the truth that is in you alone. Help us to follow your will and not our own. Help us to return to the focus of truth. Amen
