I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season. We have been doing well here at the Hoggatt Homeschool. I know that it has been awhile since I have done an official weekly wrap-up, but I’m hoping to start to get back into the routine of it. It is so fulfilling to look back on all that was accomplished throughout the week. It also is a good check for where you need to pick up the pace or get on the ball!
For the Advent season we have switched up our Bible time and are using “Truth in the Tinsel”
. Let me say I have fallen in love with this program. My kids are learning so much and staying engaged in the program. We have made it a family event by reading the scripture and doing the discussion/activities in the evening with Daddy. Then starting our mornings off with review and creating the ornament for the special tree. I am sharing the picture of our “Light” ornament, but I have posted pictures of all the ornaments on “The Hoggatt Homeschool” facebook page. (and will continue as we create more)
We started our Christmas random acts of kindness by coloring a Christmas thank-you card and placing it in the mailbox with some candies for our post woman. I found some cute coloring Christmas cards from “Mr. Printables”
thanks to Pintrest! (see link) We are planning more Random Acts of Kindness for next week and I will try to write a separate post about them, so stay tuned!
We heard that Santa would be in town this week so we had to make a trip to go visit him. The older girls made sure that they had their requests all lined out. The baby was a lot more comfortable visiting him then I expected. Although she would not sit on his lap she did tell him she wanted to be a princess and stood next to him without tears haha.
This weekend starts the busy hustle and bustle of the season. We have our first holiday party Saturday! So before it started we wanted to make sure to spend some quality fun family time together. I found these “Mini Van Express” tickets from Confessions of a Homeschooler
. We went out to eat at a special place for us then after we finished eating I passed out the tickets. I had the girls pretend that our mini van became transformed into a magic “Polar Express” van and was going to take us to see Christmas lights!
Thanks to Pintrest I found a printable Christmas light scavenger hunt. (You can find here) I had a hard time downloading it and ended up having to just print the picture. We found all the items except a Mickey Mouse! As we were driving we saw other items that I thought would be fun to add to the list. Since I had so much trouble getting the other I created a new downloadable list for you and added the additional items. (click the image below to download) We had such a good “I spying” all the fun and unique Christmas lights!
Tonight I have the wonderful privileged of a date night!!! I am so excited that this weekend I will be celebrating 6 years of marriage with my wonderful husband. Last week we were able to go and see the new Transiberian Orchestra in their new Christmas concert “Lost Christmas Eve”. I had such a good time! Then tonight we are going on a shopping trip, by OURSELVES! We are also eating a special ALONE dinner at the Melting Pot, and…..spending the night AWAY from home WITHOUT the kids!!!!!
I hope that you have all had a wonderful week and I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!
