Faith = Forgiven

Scripture Reading – Luke 5:17-26
S.O.A.P. Reading – Luke 5:20, 22-24

Scripture:
When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.”

Observation:
The man was not forgiven because of his works, but because of his faith. Jesus has power over our sins and the ability to heal every part of us if we seek him. Because of this mans determination to find Jesus and the help of his friends he walked away healed mind, body and soul.

Application:
Do we have the same kind of determination to find Jesus?

We often struggle to carve out time each day to read his word and seek him, but we never have a problem finding all the ways he has “failed” us or withheld healing.

This man and his friends went to great lengths to meet Jesus and because of their faith he was healed.

Are we missing a miracle in our lives because we are failing to seek him with heart, soul, mind and body?

Prayer:
Lord, I praise and thank you for your sacrifice. I thank you for your healing and forgiveness, even though there is nothing that I can do to ever deserve it. Help me to continue to grow my faith in you. Help me to come to you and make time for you. Amen
