Have You Missed The Sign?

Scripture Reading – Luke 3:19-38
S.O.A.P. Reading – Luke 3:22

And as he was praying, heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.

God was publicly announcing the arrival of His Son to the entire human race. He was bestowing His blessing on Jesus. He was telling us to pay attention this is it. The time that you have been waiting for is hear so don’t mess it up.

God was sending yet another sign that this is it. Wake up He is who you have been waiting for. This is Jesus my Son and through Him you will be saved. But they failed to see and believe. They failed to transfer what they witness as head knowledge to heart knowledge.

Have you missed the sign?

There are many in the world around us that are missing it. They do not have the peace of Christ with them. They either haven’t heard or haven’t believed. Even further there are those who have heard and have believed but have failed to make the real connection and be transformed by His grace, mercy and love. They have the head knowledge but not heart knowledge.

God is sending a similar announcement of “wake up” to all of us. We may not see a dove descending or bright lights or hear a voice, but we do have opportunities to meet Jesus everyday. We often get caught in the rush of the moments of life to take a deep breath and realize all that our faithful and loving God has in store for us. We miss the signs of all that he is doing for us. We often just miss him in our daily lives.

The kingdom of heaven is near. We have opportunity now but we live in a uncertain time that with every breath we can not predict the next. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Take time in each moment to slow down  and praise God for His salvation. Praise Him for his mercy, love, forgiveness… Then spread them to others!

Lord, help us not to miss it. Help us not to miss you! I thank you and praise you for all you have done and will continue to do in my life and family. I thank you for your word and its truth in an uncertain world. I thank you for guiding us to your Son. Amen
