Scripture Reading – Luke 4:1-13
S.O.A.P. Reading – Luke 4:4,8&12
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”
Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Jesus was being tempted in his human form. Satan was throwing every attempt he had, through his lies, to distract Jesus from his purpose. Just hoping that Jesus would stumble and be unable to resist so that God’s plan would not be able to come to completion. But as God always does he gave strength and used the situation for good. He taught us how to resist the same temptations.
We were provide with the answer book! When we feel defeated or tempted by Satan we have the go to answers to put things in perspective. We too are tempted to meet our own needs and not rely on God’s sustaining grace. But we also have the power to say “get behind me Satan” and triumph over temptation. Not on our own but when we seek God and his guidance.
Lord, thank you for your powerful example that we also can have the ability to triumph over evil and the lies of Satan. Help us to turn to you in our time of need and renew our strength in you. Help us to turn away from temptation and run to your truth. Amen
