Who do you serve?

In case you missed it this is Holy week! Wow, how did that happen. It seems like Lent just flew by this year.

As I was reading this morning a passage jumped out at me. Don’t you love it! That is just proof that God’s word is living and active!!! It wasn’t even associated with what I was reading, But I stumbled upon Matthew 6:24.

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” ~ Matthew 6:24

So you may think to yourself, “I only serve God. I don’t put much stake into wealth or money.” But what if you substitute the word money? What if you put in…. a clean house, worry, anger, depression, friends, social status, my car, or dare I even say my family? What if you find your self sacrificing “God’s time” for “me time”? Are you spending to much time dwelling on things that are not from God?

So choose today who you will serve!!!!

Today, as we head into the Easter celebration I challenge you (yes, I’m doing it too!) to reflect on your priorities. Put aside the things that rob you of your God time. Recommit yourself to him! That may mean purging your life of things/people, getting up earlier, or even rearranging your priorities.

Sit down and make a list of what is important to you. Write down things that consume your day. Then with red cross out the items that need to go!

Pray for healing… spiritually, mentally and physically. Pray that God would direct your heart and life. Pray that he would help you make him first in your list.

  1. Well said. It’s so hard not to substitute “good” things in place of “perfect” things, i.e.–Godly things.

And yes… Holy Week already… WOW! Can’t wait for our Christ-enriched Seder meal tonight!!!

    Love you, babe!
