It is time for another Schoolhouse review! This time I got to review a product for parents!!!!
This great documentary follows a homeschool family as they travel across the United States, in a big yellow school bus, examining their families conviction to homeschool. This family field trip exposes the truth behind the public school system. It takes a hard look at what the public school stands for, educates for, and produces.
The majority of Christian parents send their children to the public school world and have a vested interest in hat happens there. But, do they know the origins and social impact that it has.
In this film, Colin Gunn, (the Scottish filmmaker) asks five tough questions.
- Who established the American school system?
- Are my kids physically and morally safe in the schools?
- Are the public schools religiously neutral?
- Should Christians try to be “salt and light” in public schools?
- Can the public school system be fixed or redeemed?
He interviews teachers, administrators, students, parents, and many others about what is really happening TODAY in the school system.
IndoctriNation is the encouragement and challenge that Christian parents need today!
Most American Christian children are being discipled daily by pro-choice secularists, atheists, evolutionists, politicized bureaucrats, far left unions and oftentimes even child molesters. Under the guise of education the publicly funded monopoly of Government schools has engaged in a vast program of social engineering designed to eradicate the Christian faith from American life. This film warns Christians about the subversive and anti-Christian nature of the American education system.
“Every Christian parent with a child in a government school should see this… A mass exodus from government schools is the only way to preserve the souls and minds of our children, whether it gets the attention of politicians or not…and it would.” ~ Cal Thomas, syndicated columnist and Fox News political contributor
IndoctriNation comes in dvd form which was so nice since we don’t have internet capable of streaming videos. My husband and I watched it together after tucking the kids in to bed. I recommend that parents screen the video before letting children watch and use your own discretion on what ages it is appropriate for. While the content is not inherently bad, it is not suitable for younger audiences. It is also a little long for younger audiences at a running time of 102 minutes.
I grew up in the public school system and had the rationalization that it can’t be ALL THAT BAD. As a family, I did believe that God called our family to homeschool and that it was the right decision for us. Therefore, I hadn’t put much thought into public schools or the “common core” agenda. I just knew it wasn’t for us and glad we lived in a state that allows us to pretty much do whatever we want, as long as e just declare that we homeschool. As for our Christian friends that have children in public schools or are teachers themselves, I just kind of minded my own business. Homeschooling isn’t for everyone, public school/Christian/private schools aren’t for everyone either. That was close to the extent of my opinion.
Even as a homeschool parent, I went into this a little skeptical. I was curious to see it the movie was “agenda” driven or if it was a far assessment. I have to say, it was fair! They did a very good job of listening to both sides of the table.
It was really eye opening to hear what the school system was founded on. We always think that since we began as a “christian” nation that so did the school system. I was shocked to find out the true history.
We also use the excuse that Christian children should learn to be disciples and be the “salt and light” to the un-churched children of the schools. But is that really what happens? The studies show that it is actually the reverse of this. Let’s face it…Satan is strong! He has a way of watering down our view and convictions. Remember, even luke warm is spat out. We have a job as Christians to protect our children and train them in the way they should go. How can that happen if we are not the ones who are training them most of their forming years? Even private and christian based schools are being told what they can and can not teach.
The children face a completely different battle ground then even I did 15 yrs ago. Bullying is at an all time high, school violence, political agendas, religious discrimination toward Christians, the “everyone is right” way of thinking. Children are encouraged to believe things that are NOT Biblical truths!!!!
They are stealing our children! But, because they are leaving the body of the child with us we don’t even know it is happening. ~ Erwin Lutzer
Every Christian parent… homeschool, government school, private, or not should watch this film and decide for themselves what is right. I truly believe that after you do, you will have your eyes opened and possibly opinion change. I did!
