My youngest is suddenly into knights and soldiers. In fact that is what she decided to be for Halloween. So, there couldn’t be a more perfect time for Funshine Express 1st November Fireflies theme “Medieval Make-Believe”!
Here is a look at this theme’s word wall. Some of the word cards and the sign language card are free downloads in the Curriculum Extras for the month.
Other freebies include this worksheet where the kids can find the 4 differences in the castles and color the picture. You can find it, some cutting practice, and more in the Enrichment Activities.
This theme is packed with lots of fun learning games…
They will begin simple fractions this month in math play.
Begin using their comparison vocabulary while looking for similarities and differences in these keys. Then use them in imagination play time to unlock their castles.
Practice their critical thinking skills and 1-1 ration with the medieval hat matching game.
You can’t leave out all the fun crafts that they will create. We kicked off the theme with their Prince and Princess crowns. I can’t wait to dive into more crafts from the theme!
Funshine never skimps on the literature learning. Our book of the month is “The Frog Prince” by Jess Stockham.
It is a fun twist on the traditional story. The kids loved that is was a flip book also.
Also included in this theme is a nursery rhyme story of “Old King Cole”.
In case you didn’t know, Funshine also has a “Music and Movement” CD that includes one song for every theme. The kids love grooving to the fun and creative songs that are included. You can find it and many more fun activities and supplies in the Funshine Express Store. You can also hit up the Clearance section for old monthly packets or a monthly sample packet if you are interested in trying Funshine but hesitant to pay the full price.
