I hope I’m not the only one who has been bitten by the spring bug! I can’t wait!!!!! I am starting to see some green pop up around the farm which makes my heart happy. I am finally healed up after my winter fall and it feels so good to not be home bound and get outside for some sunshine and fresh air.
This year we have decided to take another leap closer to self-sustainability. After attending the “Mother Earth News Fair” i came home with high hopes of having a real garden this year. Hubby jumped on board right away and the kids got excited too. SO to planning I went!
I started making seed lists and planting grids and writing down everything I could think of doing or wanting. I then found a garden planner in Microsoft office templates. I did some changing to make it fit our needs and away we went.
We started planting seeds indoors a few weeks ago and they are thriving! We converted our old hamster cage which also used to be a fish tank (since our beloved snowball kicked the dust) to a makeshift green house/grow lights.
So far we have several varieties of tomatoes that have taken off!
We also have some Chinese cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, a flat of different lettuces, and a flat of several types of peppers. I have also added several plants to my herb garden!
I’ll keep you updated on our adventure and hopefully progress!
