Essential Oil Vapor Rub

This week has been full of coughing and hacking her at The Hoggatt Homeschool. Somehow 2 of the kiddos got THE BUG! So far I have been able to avoid it but I know that it is coming…

To help with the tight chests and coughing episodes I mixed up our first EO vapor rub batch of the year. I thought I would share the concoction with you while you still have some time to get it into your stock up before winter and the real ickies hit.

Here is the how to…

In about 1/2 cup coconut oil place 20 drops of Thyme (or rosemary), 20 drops of Eucalyptus, 10 drops of Peppermint, and 10 drops of Thieves.

Mix and store in container. Stir gentle (I just swirl the container) before each use!

Apply to chest, back and feet!

Also try Thieves tea for a sore throat remedy!

Sore throat or cough remedy…Add 2-3 drops Thieves + 1 drop Lemon and 2 T. warm water. Gargle or drink as a tea.

Goodbye Tummy Troubles

Goodbye Tummy Troubles

As many of you know I suffer from several Auto Immune disorders. One of them happens to be Ulcerative Colitis. I have been on an immune blocking infusion medication for almost a year, however, the last 2 treatments haven’t worked and the doctor has now pulled me off the medication. I am waiting to start the new med on Monday, but have been suffering from severe abdominal pains for the last 2 weeks.

Last night I had enough! I grabbed my essential oils and my The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy: Over 600 Natural, Non-Toxic and Fragrant Recipes to Create Health — Beauty — a Safe Home Environment.

There wasn’t a recipe that was specifically for UC so I used the one for diverticulitis. With oregano instead of rosemary. (see recipe below)

I rubbed it on my abdomen and low back and within 5 minutes I had a huge relief from the pain. I used it again this morning and again pain relief!!!

Now if I can only remember to grab the oils before I hurt so bad! haha

Here is the recipe I used…

about 2 tsp. of coconut oil + 2 drops peppermint oil + 1 drop chamomile + 3 drops oregano + 1 drop of clove

Allergy Relief with Essential Oils

EO Alergy Relief

It is that time of year… Grass is growing, trees are budding, and flowers are blooming. It seems like such a peaceful scene and a reminder of new life. Until you add in dust is blowing, pollen is spreading, and grass is being cut and swirling around you.

Many of us allergy suffers have mixed emotions about Spring. I love the beauty but hate the consequences haha

Today I’m sharing my essential oil concoctions that I use to help fight the watery eyes, stuffy nose, sinus headaches and stiffness that accompanies this time of year.

For Runny nose…

Place 1 drop chamomile and 1 drop lemon oil into a hanky or tissue and inhale.

For stuffy nose…

Use peppermint oil.

For sinus pain or headache…

Bring a pot of water to a low boil. Add in 1 drop of peppermint or eucalyptus. Place towel over your head and inhale the steam through your nose.

Dilute peppermint oil with a carrier oil (avocado, coconut, etc…). Massage into temples forehead or neck.

Allergy bath…

1/2 cup epson salt + 1/2 cup baking soda + 2 drops chamomile, 2 drops lemon, and 1 drop lavender.

Allergy aches…

Combine 2 drops chamomile, 1 drop geranium and 1 drop lemon. Dilute with carrier oil and massage onto neck.

Cough or chest congestion…

Apply “Breathe Again” or R.C. oil to chest throat or back.

Apply Thieves oil to feet or dilute with carrier oil and apply to chest/back.

Sore Throat…

Combine 1 drop thieves and 2 drops lemon with hot water and a teaspoon local honey and drink.

Garggle with 1 drop thieves and 2 drops lemon diluted with warm water.
