The Last Few Weeks

We have had a busy few weeks and our schedule has been crazy so I have missed writing the last few weekly wrap-ups. So today I am catching you up on the highlights of the last few weeks.
My dad turned 70!
The girls made him a cake with Memas help.
We went on vacation to St. Louis.
Donnie had a fireworks thing.
He also took his test to get his pyro license.
100% by the way!
While Daddy had class we went to the science center and planetarium.
And had school in the hotel.

Audrey turned 7!

She wanted an bow & arrow for her present.
Like the movie Brave.

The girls had their first 4H project talk
and made pumpkin rice cereal treats.

Here’s the recipe

We had a fall themed fun food Friday.

We made goofy glasses using this template. We’re getting a jump start on Halloween!

I hope you have had a great few weeks. Blessings!

Where Has Our Week Gone????

This week has flown by! Partially because we didn’t have school on Monday due to me having to go for my 3rd infusion treatment and two specialist appointments. My mom kept the girls while hubby and I took the 4 hr round trip. I then slept most of what was left of the day away. The girls had a blast having a “girls day” with my mom. I am so blessed to have her as a mom and the girls to have a fantastic grandma! They went shopping and came home with all kinds of loot!
Tuesday it was back to the grind stone… Actually we didn’t get much school done that day either. My childcare state inspector showed up for her yearly un-announced visit. All went well and I only had one small paper work issue on a child’s health/shot record. I had been very nervous about this year’s inspection since last year I got a “consult” about homeschooling my children. We are now HSLDA members so I was almost wanting her to harass me about it haha!
Wednesday we did do regular school work but we also had a fun day. The tots started their fall unit and the big girls have had fun playing with it also. We read the book “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves”, We went on a nature hunt and added our finding to our fall sensory bin, made scarecrows to hang in our classroom window and made a yummy hay stack snack! Read all about it here.
Today, Friday, we ARE having actual school haha. It is a rainy day here in Kansas so we don’t have much of a choice. We made some water color coffee filter leaves to complete our classroom window decorating.
Tomorrow is full of meetings for this Mama. We don;t usually have school on Saturdays but since we are running behind this week and will be on vacation the end of next Daddy is picking up the slack while Mama is away. It will be a VERY light day of just tying up the loose ends.
For this week’s recipe of the week I shared “Cola Pulled Pork Shoulder”. We do a lot of farm to table cooking and this is one of my favorite pulled pork recipes!
Here are some snap shots of our week so far!

Super Star Week!

In Our Homeschool This Week…
We had a tougher week this week. I haven’t felt well and the girls have struggled a bit with doing their work. But we did have some fun!
We finished up the star portion of our space science study. The girls made Constellation Projectors, did a report on their favorite constellation and made a glow in the dark star map. The little one even made a star map and we read “Five Wishing Stars.” We finished it all up with an out of this world Space Lunch for Friday Fun Food day!

We flipped our classroom to fall decor and made fall themed place mats.

Last week I shared that Hubby was doing a 9-11 tribute fireworks show at a local race track. The girls loved watching the races and the fireworks of course! Here are some snap shots of that.

Not much else to report… Thanks for swinging by!!!
